AI Literacy Is the UK's 3rd Fastest-Growing Skill (2025): Here’s How to Get Ahead for Free

Linkedin has recently shared insights on the fastest-growing skills sought after by employers in the UK in 2025.
Whilst the list does include hard skills such as Large Language Model (LLMs) Utilisation (5) and Data Management (9), Financial Planning and Analysis (13), it places even more emphasis on soft skills such as "Relationship building" at number 1, Communication (4) and Customer Relationship Management (6).
AI literacy also stands out, ranking as the 3rd fastest-growing skill in the UK. This highlights how understanding AI is no longer just a niche skill for technical roles but is becoming a vital competency across industries/roles.
Employers are increasingly looking for individuals who can confidently navigate AI tools, interpret AI-driven insights, and apply them in practical ways; whether in marketing, customer support, or business strategy.
Top 3 Fastest-Growing Skills in 2025

Why AI Literacy Matters
AI literacy being in the top 3 echoes the fact that 71% of employers would rather now hire a less experienced employee with AI skills, than a more experienced one without.
With the plethora of AI tools out there that promise to drive efficiencies and reduce costs, it's unsurprising that businesses would value employees that have the built-in ability to evaluate, advocate for and use AI tools to solve problems in less time.
Hubspot estimates that the average employee currently saves 2.5hours per day on repetitive tasks, with sales reps saving on average 2hrs per day and marketing & content teams saving 3 or more.
